New Cub Scout Program Updates: Arriving June 1
We are excited to announce the new updates to the Cub Scout program rolling out on June 1st. Watch this short video above to learn what’s in store! Keep following along between now and June 1st as we explain more about the upcoming changes to the Cub Scout program.
Transcript:
Effective June 1, 2024, the Cub Scout program will be updated to ensure that Cub Scouting is Fun, Simple, and Easy. Fun for Cub Scouts, parents, and leaders. Simple to understand and explain. Easy to deliver as designed. These updates are the result of feedback from over 23,000 Cub Scout parents and volunteer leaders along with subject matter experts.
Some key areas that are being updated as of June 1st include:
- Rank Alignment
- Required Adventures
- Elective Adventures
- STEM Adventures
- Youth Awards
- Handbooks
These updates will have a start date of June 1, 2024. In the BSA systems, all Scouts are automatically moved from one grade to the next, this is called “rollover”. The effective date of June 1 coincides with grade roll-over. June 1 is the beginning of the Cub Scout program year, however, Scoutbook will allow you to enter advancement details from the current program year up until August 31st.
As we gear up for these changes, we encourage all our Cub Scout level volunteers to follow along with the National Office’s Cub Chat Live! Series explaining these changes. We also encourage you to follow our Baltimore Area Council series in which our team will explain these new and exciting updates to the Cub Scout program.
