Annual Report Card for the Baltimore Area Council
by Kenn Miller | Scout Executive of the Baltimore Area Council
I am proud to present the 2023 Report Card for the Baltimore Area Council. This past year has been a testament to the dedication, hard work, and commitment of our Scouts, volunteers, and supporters in Central Maryland.
Our youth membership stands strong at 11,886 Scouts, reflecting the continued interest and engagement of young individuals in our programs. These Scouts make up an impressive 408 different units, supported and guided by our nearly 10,000 adult Scouting volunteers, who tirelessly mentor and empower our youth.
Our commitment to community service was exemplified by a staggering 105,047 hours of community service reported by our Scouts! Our Scouting for Food initiative collected 120,000 pounds of food and Eagle Scout projects continue to make a tangible difference in our communities, adding $480,194 in value through their meaningful contributions.
The Broad Creek Memorial Scout Reservation remains a cornerstone of our organization, welcoming nearly 24,000 Scouts for various activities and adventures. Additionally, about 1,700 Cub Scouts participated in Cub Scout Day Camp, engaging in fun activities that fostered their growth and development.
The success of the Broad Creek capital campaign is a testament to the generosity and belief in our mission. With $7,490,839 raised to date, including $2,290,365 earned in 2023 alone, we are well on our way to realizing our goals and ensuring the sustainability of our programs. Further, Special events revenue contributed significantly to our fundraising efforts, with $1,006,835 raised in 2023.
In conclusion, the achievements highlighted in our annual report card are a testament to the collective efforts of our Scouts, volunteers, donors, and supporters. As we look towards the future, we remain committed to empowering young individuals, fostering leadership skills, and making a positive impact in Central Maryland and beyond.
As always, if you have any questions, comments, or ideas, let me know.
