2024 Maryland Sons of the American Revolution Eagle Scout of the Year Awardees

The Maryland Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) has selected Ryan Fischer of Elkridge as the 2024 Maryland SAR Eagle Scout of the Year. Fischer was selected from among finalists representing chapters across the state and will represent Maryland in the SAR Arthur M & Berdena King Eagle Scout Award competition which will award $20,000 in college scholarships.

Ryan Fischer is member of Troop 851 chartered to Epiphany Lutheran Church and earned the rank of Eagle Scout in December 2020. He is currently a Freshman at UMBC.

Fischer was presented with the Maryland SAR Eagle Scout of the Year trophy and cash award at the society’s annual George Washington Luncheon held Saturday, February 24 at the Eagle’s Nest Country Club in Phoenix, MD. He was previously awarded the SAR Eagle Scout Medal as the Maryland SAR Charles Carroll of Carrollton Chapter winner for Howard County.

The Arthur M. & Berdena King Eagle Scout Award is open to all Eagle Scouts who are currently registered in an active unit and have not reached their 19th birthday during the year of application.  The application consists of a two-page Eagle Scout Award Application Form, a Four-Generation Ancestor Chart and a 500-word patriotic themed essay. For his application essay, Fischer wrote about the Culper Spy Ring.
